Boatel is a hobby company that develops electrical systems for pleasure boats. The company provides components and installation assistance to electronics and electrical systems in boats. Boatel's products are specially designed to be installed in sailboats with 12 volt batteries where charging is done with a boat engine alternator and solar panels. The products have come from an idea of building a complete electrical system on board. The electrical system shall provide efficient energy utilization and simplify the cable wiring, with ability to switch current consumers ON/OFF by using different control units.

My name is John Österberg, and I'm the company's founder and designer. I have an M.Sc. exam in electrical engineering from LTH (Lund University) and I have many years of experience in electronic design. With Boatel, I also combine my other great interest, which is sailing. I am a dedicated sailor and participate in race sessions as well as holiday sailings. Boatel and its products have thus grown out of my own needs and experiences that have arisen in the boat at sea. My hope is to get other sailboat owners to take advantage of these skills and to use the products sold by Boatel to facilitate the power management on board and to contribute to a more smart energy boatlife.
